Started in 2024, Oslo Solo is an ongoing record of a city’s quietude and an outsider’s journey through it. I have always been struck by how quiet the Norwegian capital can be. Step just outside the main streets, and the urban noise quickly dissolves; you never have to walk far to find silence, regardless of the hour. As a foreigner working seasonal jobs in busy restaurants — work done almost exclusively by immigrants — that contrast becomes even sharper. Stepping out from the frantic energy of the service floor into the city's calm, far from my wife, family, and friends, a quiet loneliness often creeps in on those long, solitary walks. These photographs are my attempt to translate this feeling and the surprising, luminous beauty tucked inside Oslo’s empty streets.
